Around last weekend, further commemoration ceremonies of the TKP/ML took place in Europe in 21 cities in honor of the fallen Turkish comrades Nubar and Rosa. The actions in Hamburg and Cologne were carried out together with MLKP representatives in memory of MLKP commander Koray Aspir, who died on 28 August. In Hamburg, the event ended with a film screening, in Cologne, Maoist forces from the FRG also participated with a statement. In both places, there was a minute's silence at the beginning and musical contributions were made at the end.

Turkish police have again arrested two suspected "high-ranking" members of the DHKP-C (Revolutionary People's Liberation Party/Front) in Istanbul. This continues the Turkish state's offensive against the various revolutionary forces. An EU report with Europol data of 23rd of June had more strongly emphasized the "terror threat" posed by the DHKP-C among others and underlined that Europe was the logistic base, e.g. for smuggling weapons.

In March 2016, the agreement between the EU and Turkey to curb "illegal migration" via the Turkey-Greece route was signed. It commits Turkey, for instance, to "repatriate" every migrant who flees to the Greek islands by the illegal route. In return, the EU is to "accept" one Syrian living in Turkey for every Syrian deported there. The EU will pay for these measures financially, i.e. by agreement also for the care of Syrian migrants in Turkey.

In the face of the economic crisis of imperialism, Turkey, too, is experiencing the sharpest drop in economic performance since the beginning of its own data collection (1998): GDP fell by a whole 11 percent from the first to the second quarter of 2020. This Monday Turkey once again sent a research vessel, the "Oruc Reis", to investigate the seabed for natural gas deposits in the eastern Mediterranean. According to an agreement between Greece and Egypt from last week on the affected sea area, Turkey has no rights there. This agreement defines a territory in which both states have an "Exclusive Economic Zone" (EEZ) off their own coasts, in which they have control over the resources in the sea. According to the agreement, the area navigated by the Turkish research vessel is part of the Greek zone.
