Since Tuesday huge demonstrations took place in Iraq. The number of unemployd peolpe is high and the public infrastructure, like scholls or hospitals is week. The ruling system has no perspective for the mases. Irag is one of the most oil-rich countries in the world, but there is an energy crisis. The resources are exported to the imperialist oppressors, of which the Iraqi people have nothing at all.
Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdel Mahdi said: "We will give money to any Iraqi family without a monthly income to achieve justice." But this is just lip service and the attempt to appease the anger of the masses by bribery. But the masses are not blinded by it, they think the politicians are corrupted anyway.
The old state shows its most repressive side. 75% of the internet access are blocked across the country, according to Netblocks.org. The cops are very brutal on the demonstrators. Many are arbitrarily arrested. They are using tear gas and firing shots into the air. As a protest move on Tuesday towards the Green Zone in the center of Baghdad, where government buildings and embassies are located, the cops fired into the crowd, but this only further increases the anger of the masses. Nationwide, 38 people have been killed and 1,600 injured.
