According to media reports, more than 80 forces loyal to the government have been killed in Afghanistan since the beginning of April.

 

 

April 16 Parwan Province: six military employes killed

Six Afghan civilians were killed and three others were wounded in a gunmen attack close to Bagram Airbase, the largest US military base in Afghanistan. Those killed and wounded were working on the base and were targeted when returning to their jobs.

April 16 Logar Province: 14 soldiers killed

The Taliban attacked security outposts in Charkh District, killing 13 soldiers and taking nine others prisoner. Another soldier was killed when a Humvee was blown up by a roadside bomb nearby. Local authorities claimed that the Taliban, who were eventually pushed out of the area, suffered heavy casualties as well.

April 16 Herat Province: one police officer killed

A police officer was shot and killed by the Taliban in the Pul-e-Malan area of Anjel District. The attackers were arrested by police.

April 16 Badghis Province: one police officer killed

A police officer on his way to work was shot and killed by Taliban fighters on a motorcycle in the village of Tagob-Esmail in Qala-e-Naw City, the provincial capital.

April 15 Kunduz Province: one security force killed

The Taliban attacked a security outpost in the Shorabi village of Kunduz City, killing one pro-government militia member. Another militia member was wounded in the attack.

April 15 Kunduz Province: five security forces killed

A cook poisoned five police officers at a security outpost in Imam Saheb District, killing the officers before seizing the weapons, equipment and military vehicle at the outpost and joining the Taliban.

April 14 Zabul Province: two police officers killed

A roadside bomb hit a police Humvee in the Nowrak area of the highway connecting Zabul to Kabul, killing two police officers and wounding two others.

April 14 Faryab Province: one security force killed

A roadside bomb exploded near a security checkpoint in the Bandar-e-Shakh area of Qaisar District, killing one pro-government militia member and wounding another.

April 12 Paktia Province: two security forces killed

The Taliban ambushed the vehicle of an officer of the National Directorate of Security, Afghanistan’s intelligence agency, in the Second Police District of Gardez City, the provincial capital, killing both the officer and his driver.

April 11 Samangan Province: three security forces killed

The Taliban attacked a security outpost in the Pushqul area of Dara-e-Suf Bala District, killing three pro-government militia members. The outpost was later recaptured.

April 11 Paktia Province: two police officers killed

A large group of prisoners were attempting to escape from the central prison in Gardez City, the provincial capital, leading to a clash between the prisoners and police forces trying to stop them. Two police officers were killed and four others were wounded in the attack, while two prisoners were also wounded. Most of the prisoners are members of the Taliban.

April 11 Kabul Province: one security force killed

Two members of the President’s Protection Service were attacked by unknown gunmen while off duty in the Taimani area of Kabul City, the provincial capital. One was killed and another was wounded in the attack.

April 8 Faryab Province: three security forces killed

In the Damqul area of Maimana City, the provincial capital, unknown gunmen shot and killed the National Directorate of Security’s provincial spokesman, a cameraman for the directorate, and one police officer.

April 7 Logar Province: three police officers killed

The Taliban ambushed a police vehicle in the Bargains area of Pul-e-Alam, the provincial capital, killing police officers before escaping from the area.

April 7 Badghis Province: one security force killed

One member of the territorial army was kidnapped and killed by the Taliban while traveling through the village of Qarchaghi of Qadis District.

April 6 Faryab Province: four police officers killed

The Taliban attacked the center of Almar District, killing four police officers and wounding three others before the insurgents were pushed back.

April 6 Samangan Province: three security forces killed

The Taliban attacked security outposts in the Pusqul area of Dara-e-Suf Bala District, killing three pro-government militia and wounding three others.

April 6 Badakhshan Province: two security forces killed

The Taliban attacked three security outposts in Wardoj District, killing two members of the territorial army and wounding three others. Local authorities claimed that five Taliban members were killed in the clash and seven others of them were wounded.

April 5 Helmand Province: one police officer killed

A roadside bomb hit a police vehicle in the Nahri-sirage area of Greshk District, killing one police officer and wounding three others.

April 5 Faryab Province: one soldier killed

A roadside bomb hit a military vehicle in the Alti Bolak village of Qaramqul District, killing one soldier and wounding three others.

April 5 Badghis Province: one police officer killed

A local police commander who was reported to have planned on joining the Taliban was killed in a firefight with the Afghan army in the village of Khoda-Mada in Qadis District.

April 5 Faryab Province: one police officer killed

A Taliban sniper shot and killed a police officer who was on duty in the Tor Kol village of Shirin Tagab District.

April 4 Logar Province: five pro-government militia members killed

The Taliban attacked a security outpost in the Shairwazi area of Pul-e-Alam, the provincial capital, killing five pro-government militia members before escaping from the area before reinforcements arrived.

April 4 Faryab Province: three soldiers killed

The Taliban attacked the center of Qaramqul District, capturing one security outpost, killing three soldiers, and wounding two others.

April 3 Kabul Province: one security force killed

Two members of President Ashraf Ghani’s personal security team were shot by unknown gunmen while off duty in the Paghman District of Kabul. One of them died and another was wounded. An investigation was launched about the incident.

April 3 Wardak Province: three police officers killed

The Taliban attacked a security outpost in Nerkh District, killing three police officers.

April 3 Takhar Province: two security forces killed

One local police commander and one pro-government militia member were killed in a Taliban ambush in the Fourth Police District of Taliqan City, the provincial capital.

April 3 Kandahar Province: one police officer killed

A police vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb in the Fourth Police District of Kandahar City, the provincial capital, killing one officer and wounding three others.

 

April 2 Badakhshan Province: two security forces killed

The Taliban attacked a military base in the Dahn-e-Aab Oshtogan area of Yamgan District, where fighting continued for several hours. Security forces evacuated the base and escaped to Keran Minjan District, but were ambushed on the way. Two members of the territorial army were killed and six others went missing.

April 2 Kandahar Province: one police officer killed

A local police commander, Abdul Matin, was killed by the Taliban in Spin Boldak District. The attackers were on a motorcycle and managed to escape from the area.

April 2 Badghis Province: six security forces killed

The Taliban attacked security outposts in the village of Kharistan in Moqor District, killing two members of the National Directorate of Security and four pro-government militia members.

April 1 Wardak Province: three soldiers killed

The Taliban attacked a military vehicle in the Haft Asia area of Sayed Abad District, killing three soldiers.

April 1 Badghis Province: two police officers killed

The Taliban ambushed a convoy of Afghan security forces traveling to Moqor District from Qala-e-Naw City, the provincial capital, killing two police officers.
