In the following we want to give a short overview of the current developments and occurrences in the People's War in India, led by the Communist Party of India (Maoist) [CPI(Maoist)].

For weeks, protests by villagers, who are predominantly Adivasi (casteless), have continued against the newly established Central Reserve Police Force camp, five kilometers away from the village of Silgar,in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, near the border with Bijapur district, an area where the new power is being built.

Even a massacre by the reaction, in which at least six protesters were killed and nearly 300 injured, did not stop the local community from continuing to demand the withdrawal of the security forces of the old Indian state and to condemn the terror of the reaction.

According to various Indian Media, the CPI (Maoist) has now issued a statement calling for a Bandh (armed strike) in the states of Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra to intensify the protest and demand the withdrawal of all reactionary security forces from Adivasi villages, who are particularly exposed to terror and arbitrariness by the old Indian state due to their castelessness. 1
