On July 29, a construction site of the company CDU Construction in Northern Samar were attacked by suspected combatants of the New People´s Army (NPA)
According to the Philippine news agency about 20 armed combatants of the NPA rushed to the construction site in Las Navas town in Northern Samar and torched ten vehicles and other equipment engaged in the construction works, including two backhoes, a bulldozer, loader, dump truck, self-loading truck prime mover, crane, grader, welding generator set, and road roller. The damage caused to the company is estimated to be approximately 630,000 USD.
According to the commander of the Philippine Army’s 8th Infantry Division the company previously refused to make financial contributions to the revolutionary forces and the people. 1
