COMMUNIST PARTY OF INDIA (MAOIST)

                                                                                                Central Committee

Press Release

27th Jan, 2022

Make success the ‘Day of Betrayal’ called given by Samyukta Kisan Morcha on 31st January! Hold militant demonstrations in front of the district, mandal and tehsil government offices

against the BJP government that trampled the promises at the time of withdrawing the 3 Agrarian Laws!

The Central Committee of the CPI (Maoist) calls upon the entire peasantry of the country to make success the ‘Day of Betrayal’ the call given by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha on 31st January 2022 in protest to the government for not fulfilling the promises given at the time of withdrawing the three Agrarian Laws. It calls upon the entire oppressed classes and oppressed social sections to make success the all India strike the call given by countrywide Trade Unions opposing amendments to labor laws on 23rd and 24th of February.

The Central government withdrew the Agrarian Acts owing to the peasants’ struggle promising them on Minimum Support Price (MSP), withdrawal of cases on peasant activists and compensation to the activists who died in the agitation. However the government until now did not form a committee in this regard. It neither stated the nature and functioning of the same. It did not yet start the process of withdrawing the false cases foisted on the peasantry. The police filed FIR in 278 cases on 48,000 activists in Haryana out of which 87 were withdrawn. But such a process was not even taken up in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. The government did not also fulfill the promise to pay compensation to the nearly one thousand farmers who died during the time of agitation.

The son of a Central Minister Ajay Mishra overrode his car and killed 6 activists in Lakhimpur Kheri. Four more died in the subsequent firing by him and his followers on the farmers who protested the incident. The government filed a FIR on the farmers on murder charges in this incident. The government did not heed to the demand of the peasantry to remove Ajay Mishra from the central cabinet.

Samyukt Kisan Morcha declared 31st January as the ‘Day of Betrayal’ in protest to this attitude towards the peasantry. The central Trade Unions gave a call for countrywide strike opposing the anti-labor policies of the central government on 23rd and 24th February. Samyukta Kisan Morcha gave a call to the farmers to participate in it also with the demand for MSP.

Our party supports these demands. It calls upon the people of the country to participate in these agitations.

It is clearer day by day that BJP government withdrew the Agrarian Acts in view of the elections in five states. Few days after the withdrawal the central Agriculture Minister Narendra Tomar stated that they would make the Acts once again. In spite of large scale opposition towards the attitude of the government, the comprador bureaucratic capitalist classes and the big capitalist classes and the Central and the state governments that represent these classes are suppressing the people. A strong movement need to be built against these classes.

As a part of it, we call upon the people to hold demonstrations in front of the district, block and tehsil offices on 31st January as per the call of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha and to militantly participate in the countrywide bandh on 23rd and 24th of February.
