According to the bourgeois press, an improvised explosive device was detonated on the eve of the local elections in the Milanchowk district of Butwal, Nepal.
According to the Butwal District Police Department, a bomb, made from a pressure cooker, exploded in front of Sunrise Bank in Milanchowk on the evening of May 12. Allegedly, "a pamphlet bearing the name CPN (Maoist Center) was found on the spot, and the pamphlet called on everyone to boycott the local elections"1
In the last few days, there have been repeated fights, some fierce, by the people over and against the elections. On May 15, two people were killed by security forces when angry masses attacked the polling place and destroyed and looted ballot boxes.2
