Fighting against Israeli forces broke out again in various parts of Palestine over the past few days. On Friday 24 June, clashes broke out between Israeli forces and Palestinians after the occupation forces stormed the village of Silwad, near Ramallah in the West Bank. Near the villages of Beita and Beit Dajan, south and east of Nablus city respectively, and near the village of Kafr Qaddum, east of Qaqilya city, residents also resisted attacks by Israeli forces. At least 130 Palestinians were reportedly injured in these battles alone. Among the injured were three who were shot at with live ammunition and nine others were injured by rubber bullets. A 16-year-old Palestinian succumbed to his serious injuries on Saturday after Israeli soldiers shot at him in a village east of Ramallah.
Then, on Sunday 26 July, fighting broke out again in several villages near Nablus and Jenin. Israeli settlers stormed the villages and destroyed wells that are necessary for the residents' water supply. At least 80 Palestinians are reported to have been injured here. However, the residents of the villages put up a massive fight against the attackers, erecting barricades made of burning tyres, so that they eventually managed to drive the settlers away. Officials of reactionary Palestinian authorities then called on the population to be vigilant, as renewed attacks and acts of revenge by the Zionists were an urgent danger.
In recent weeks and months, Israeli settlers and the occupying forces of the Israeli state have escalated the situation in large parts of the West Bank. In the most aggressive manner, residents are being displaced, deprived of their land and murdered. The response of the Palestinian people, however, remains resistance, which will continue heroically until Palestine is finally free.
