This Sunday, on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the assassination of Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht, the founders of the Communist Party of Germany, by soldiers with orders from their political leadership in 1919, well over 2000 people gathered to commemorate these leaders - along with the great Lenin.
Despite the continued state of emergency and restrictions, the demonstration this year was better attended than last year, which is also due to the special emphasis in highlighting different forces to show solidarity and mobilize especially to the demonstration last year in the face of brutal attacks of the reaction. However, unlike last year, this year the police held back. While last year the police attacked the demonstration and the revolutionaries on the demonstration under false pretexts (which afterwards was annulled even by the bourgeois courts), in this year there were hardly any police forces along the whole route of the demonstration.
Not being intimidated by last year's attacks, the Internationalist Collective Berlin, shoulder to shoulder with comrades from a wide variety of countries, mobilized a common block. Following Lenin's quote "The role of the vanguard can only be fulfilled by a party that is guided by an advanced theory" combined with the slogan "Unite under Maoism" and under the banner "Eternal glory and honor to Chairman Gonzalo", they participated in the demonstration in a militant and determined way.
That the struggle for the implementation of Maoism and the struggle for the defense of Chairman Gonzalo's leadership go hand in hand was demonstrated this year in a particularly impressive way in the unification of the various forces within the International Communist Movement in the struggle against attempts by individual reactionaries to drag Chairman Gonzalo and the Communist Party of Peru into the mud. Attempts that were decisively answered by comrades from Partizan and the Internationalist Collective Berlin.
Even if the general tendency continues that the demonstration in its totality is getting smaller from year to year and has only limited radiance except in circumstances comparable to last year, when the masses beat back the attacks of reaction with great initiative, this year's participation clearly expressed that despite repression, despite attacks of reaction and despite the ritualizations of opportunism, the LLL demonstration can play an important role in the unification of the International Forces based on Marxism-Leninism-Maoism.
