The poet and founder of the Revolutionary Writers' Association, the 79-year-old Varavara Rao, was (according to prison officials who phone called his wife Hemalata) transferred to a hospital due to alleged critical health conditions.
Varavara Rao is imprisoned in Taloja jail in Mumbai. On May 30th he had been fallen unconcious and was treated at JJ Hospital in Mumbai. But instead of releasing him he is still kept in imprisonment as a key accused in the Bhima Koregaon case. Varavara Rao was arrested in November 2018 on charges of conspiracy to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Meanwhile over 130 renowned intellectuals from across the world have appealed to President of India and the Chief Justice of India for the release of Saibaba and Varavara Rao. Among them: Noam Chomsky, Judith Butler, Partha Chatterjee, Homi K. Bhabha, Bruno Latour, Gerald Horne and Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o.

India - a prison for the peoples - genocidaly attacks whoever seems to be rebellious. Tens of Thousands are imprisoned in utterly bad consitions, partially without trial or even without a case. Reactionary Armed Forces and paramilitary troops slaughtering in particular indigenous people.
