On July 30, three soldiers were killed during an attack on the armed forces of the old Indian state in the federal state of Manipur.

The action took place in Khongtal area of Manipur’s Chandel district near the border to Myanmar. A unit of Assam Rifle (special forces) soldiers were on their way back to the base when an IED was triggered. Due the detonation and the following exchange of fire three soldiers were killed and six further were wounded. There are noc reports about loses on the side of the attackers.

This is the first reported armed attack on security forces in Manipur for nearly three years. According to the claims of the bourgeois media the Manipur Naga People’s Front (MNPF), Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) and the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) have jointly claimed responsibility for the attack.

Besides the Maoist Communist Party of Manipur, there are numerous other organizations that fight for an independent and "socialist" Manipur, many of them are also armed. This illustrates once again the problems the reaction is facing, armed struggle is being waged everywhere in India. Be it the people's war under the leadership of the CPI(Maoist), the struggle in Manipur, or even in Kashmir.
