On Saturday, May 30, clashes between masses and police forces occurred in the village of Cap Skirring in western Senegal over the lack of water.
The security forces attacked a demonstration for the supply of water in the village, which were banned one day before. The reaction used tear gas and live ammunition to disperse the crowd. In response, the demonstrators attacked the police forces with stones and erected barricades, which they set on fire.
Several protesters were seriously injured by the projectiles and 16 person were detained, including the organizers of the protest.
