After a youth died on Friday night during a chase with the police, there were fights between police forces and youth in Anderlecht on Saturday evening.
In protest against the death of the young men mainly young people gathered to the streets around metro station Clemenceau and the Place du Conseil, where the town hall is situated. When police forces arrived to disperse the crowd, by the use of truncheons they got attacked with stones. In the course of the clashes several cars were torched. In addition, at least one police car was looted, among them is said to have been a handgun (the shots can be heard at the video).
The situation calmed down just on Sunday morning, when reinforcements with water cannons arrived. A total of 43 persons were arrested and the police is assuming that there will be renewed fights.
