On 06 April 2022, trade unions, progressive forces and also proletarian revolutionaries in Greece called for a 24-hour nationwide general strike. The whole country was at a standstill, at least as far as work was concerned. For tens of thousands were on the streets and took part in the demonstrations and strike rallies. Nevertheless, the general strike generally fell far short of its mobilisation potential, mainly because the opportunist trade unions and parties like Syriza lost more and more of their influence among the masses because they are hypocritical traitors to the workers.
Athens and Thessaloniki were the centres of the general strike in Greece on 06 April with the participation of tens of thousands of workers in the strike rallies and demonstrations. But also in all other parts of the country workers stopped work and took to the streets. Both in the two biggest cities of Greece - Athens and Thessaloniki - as well as in numerous other cities, proletarian revolutionaries took part in the actions within the strike. Apart from the general demands for more wages and for compensation for the enormous price increases, the comrades put special focus on the imperialist war against Ukraine. Especially the Yankees imperialists, who also operate from military bases on Greek territory, were denounced.
