On the second of April a counter-demonstration against a chauvinist parade against muslims made by a fascist group, who on the first day of the ramadan burned several copies of the Quran on a central square in Oslo. At a school next to the square school pupils hanged up posters against the chauvanist manifestation. Kampkomiteen writes that the police as always assisted the fascists in carrying out their harrasment of muslims. The police had a heavy presence, and was busy taking pictures and video of the counter-demonstrators, and searched everyone coming to the counter-demonstration. There was also a counter-demonstration a few hundred meters away, held by an alliance of parliamentarian parties, both “Socialist left party” and the chauvanist “progress party”, who in union tried to defuse any class struggle from emerging, by leading people away. Kampkomiteen writes that despite this attempt many people confronted the fascists and were present at the true counter-demonstration, while the fascists were hiding in a corner protected by police.
