Denmark: Demonstration in support of the liberation struggle of the Palestinian people.
(An unofficial translation of the report from socialistiskrevolution.wordpress.com)
On 15 May, to mark the 74th anniversary of al-Nakba, a demonstration was held in Copenhagen to highlight the Israeli occupation of Palestine. On 11 May, Israeli occupation forces attacked a refugee camp in Jenin. Journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, who was covering the attack, was shot dead by the Israeli military. On 13 May, during her funeral, the police attacked the funeral procession with batons and rubber bullets while the crowds defended the procession.
Therefore, many people took part in the demonstration, both Palestinians living in Denmark and others who wanted to show their solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian people. Proletarian revolutionaries were also present at the demonstration, carrying a banner reading "Long live proletarian internationalism!" and "Solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian people!".
When the demonstration took place last year, the police coordinated an attack on the demonstration and used tear gas against the demonstrators. This was a politically dictated attack by the government in the context of the negotiations on vaccine cooperation between Denmark and Israel, which at the time was also carried out by the Action Force (AKS), which reports directly to the political police.
This year, the police avoided any confrontation in order not to face massive opposition again. Instead, the police entrenched a large area around the embassy, leaving the military-trained police forces behind the barricades to defend the Israeli embassy against the mass uprising. A drone also flew high above the Israeli embassy to monitor the demonstration.
The demonstration shows that the masses, especially those from oppressed nations like Palestine, will show their resistance to imperialism and fight for their right to national liberation
Norway: Rallies of support for Palestine
(An unofficially translated extract of the report of the revolutionary news site TFM from Norway)
On 15 May it was 74 years since Al Nakba (catastrophe in Arabic), when Israel was established in historic Palestine and the occupiers expelled the Palestinians from their land. The struggle committee participated in Nakba rallies in Kristiansand, Stavanger, Trondheim, Oslo and Bergen this weekend and shared reports and pictures from the rallies.
Austria: "The Nakba has never stopped".
(Report of the comrades of the revolutionary newspaper Rote Fahne from Austria)
On Saturday 15 May, a rally was held in Vienna in commemoration and protest against the Nakba, the expulsion of the Palestinians from their land, which laid the foundation for the creation of Israel. 300 people took part.
"Nakba" - that means catastrophe. In 1948, Zionist militias expelled hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, burned hundreds of villages and carried out countless massacres of the Palestinian population. Israel was built on these crimes, a state in which the Palestinians are deprived of all basic rights. Yet, as was emphasised in every speech at the rally, this displacement of Palestinian families in Jerusalem, of Bedouins in the Nakab Desert and, above all, through settler colonialism in the West Bank, has never ceased. The Nakba continues today. Protests, like the large protests in May last year, continue to be directed against the eviction of Palestinians from their land. Many passers-by, especially Arab youth, also showed solidarity and joined this year's rally.
"The cowardly murder of Shireen should silence the voice of the Palestinians". The murder of Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh has shaken the world and the rally was also dedicated to her memory. Symbolically, a coffin was carried for her. But it was also emphasised that often, very often, such murders of Palestinians are committed, even if the monopoly media, especially in Austria, mostly keep quiet about it and do not report it. Or, as in the case of Shireen, a perpetrator-victim reversal is practised and the Palestinians themselves are blamed for the murders by the Israeli forces. Even at the funeral of the journalist, visitors were shot at because they had brought Palestinian flags! Therefore, dozens of Palestine flags were demonstratively waved at the Vienna rally.
At the Stiftkaserne, attention was drawn to the cooperation of the Austrian military, despite its formal neutrality, with Israel for the development of new weapons systems. The rulers in Austria are interested in gaining influence in the Middle East, but have little interest in reporting on the war against the Palestinians (while war reports from Ukraine, however, are played up and down in a very lurid, and one-sided way).
"It is not a conflict of religions!", and there is no reason to believe this lie - this was emphasised in every speech. The division between the peoples, the oppression by imperialism and its puppets, serves the interests of the rich and powerful countries, especially Europe and the USA. "Let's fight against this imperialist oppression!" was stated at the end of the rally.
