On 23 December 2022, a suspected French fascist carried out an armed attack on the Ahmet Kaya Kurdish cultural centre in Paris, killing three people and injuring three others, some seriously.
The Paris prosecutor's office announced that a 69-year-old man had been arrested. It subsequently came out that the arrested man was a Frenchman who had been arrested for carrying a weapon without permission and released just 12 days before the attack. He has also attacked a refugee camp in the past.
Immediately after the attack, more than 500 people gathered near the Kurdish cultural centre in Paris. In reaction to the massacre, the crowds shouted slogans such as "Murderer Erdoğan" and "Terrorist Erdoğan". Involvement of the Turkish state as a string-puller of the attack is considered likely by different forces. It would not be the first time that people from the Kurdish movement have been murdered on French soil in an intelligence operation by the reactionary Turkish state. (Here is the link to a statement by AGEB which also takes a stand on this issue).
Only shortly after the protests began, French police attacked protesters with gas bombs and tried to prevent demonstrations. However, the masses did not put up with this police harassment and brute force and responded with strong resistance. For two days there was heavy fighting on the streets of Paris. People are said to have travelled to Paris from many other European cities to take part in the protests.
Different organisations from the revolutionary movement, especially from Turkey and Kurdistan, took part in the struggles. The comrades of Partizan also took part in the front line.
