On May 18, at Frankfurt's Opernplatz, 80 to 100 people responded to Partizan's call for a rally to mark the 50th anniversary of the death of communist leader Ibrahim Kaypakkaya.
Ibrahim Kaypakkaya was imprisoned and killed in prison by the old Turkish state in 1973. Before that, he founded the TKP/ML together with other comrades and initiated the People's War in Turkey, as well as dealt with important questions of the Turkish revolution on the basis of Marxism-Leninism and the experiences in the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution in China. The rally is part of a larger campaign of Partizan for the anniversary of Kaypakkaya's death, which will culminate on May 27 and 28 at an international symposium in Vienna.
Together with Partizan a larger contingent of proletarian revolutionaries from France attended, who held up a banner under the slogan “Long live communist leader Ibrahim Kaypakkaya – Drapeau Rouge”. In a speech the importance of Ibrahim Kaypakkaya to the revolution and the TKP/ML where highlighted. Furthermore comrades from the Netherlands were also present at the event and a message of greeting from the Maoist Committee in Finland was delivered to the event. The Red League participated in the event with a contingent and set up an information table that was met with lively interest among those present and passers-by and distributed the Declaration of its Foundation
In contrast to the last years, the German police was present with a larger force fully clad in riot gear, but lingered on the fringes of the manifestation and largely held back. Throughout the event, various speeches were held and songs were played, which addressed the adherence to the People's War in Turkey and Kaypakkaya's contributions.
