We publish an inofficial translation of a declaration of the FDLP-EC (Front in Defence of the Struggle of the People - Ecuador):
The great electoral circus ended. It was won with YES with 64% of the votes. These results reaffirm our thesis, the process of weakening positions of the bureaucratic bourgeoisie is evident. On the contrary, the readjustment of the comprador bourgeoisie has been important in the face of a trend that has been predominant in bureaucratic capitalism since its origins, especially as it has been able to consolidate, within its allied structure, an important group of sectors of the domesticated left, part of the leadership of the union movement, indigenous-peasant handed over to the big bourgeoisie and large landowners.
But the trend is not only evident in the polls, but in their economic disposition.
Distinct for the comprador bourgeoisie (this does not mean that the bureaucratic bourgeoisie does not follow the same path), it openly proposes with more vehemence the liberation of tariffs, taxes; to reduce the size of the state, to reduce fiscal spending; concession of strategic sectors to private enterprise. Freedom of investment, trade agreements with the US; greater empowerment of the Armed Forces and police, Yankee base in national territory, etc.
With the triumph of the YES, the landlords are strengthened, and not only those that support the latifundium, the gamonalism, but also that new layer of urban landowners who manage hundreds of urban properties for purely speculative purposes.
Once again a small and medium production is hit as it opens, more aggressively, the doors to the big merchants, who import products that flood the national markets and that cause the closure of hundreds of small and medium-sized industries, unable to compete with the large-scale production generated by imperialism.
For the masses the conditions become more acute. The regime, at the beginning of the year, returned to the line of debt. More than 7 billion dollars, resources that aim to cover "fiscal holes" and whose payment will fall back, in one way or another, on the masses, taxes, increase in services, etc.
The difficulties the government has in improving employment rates are dramatic.
On February 4 the consultation was held and on the 5th of the same month, the poor, exploited workers rose up with the same feeling, that the consultation represents absolutely nothing to solve their most pressing problems.
COMRADE PIERRE CAMPAIGN
Faithful to Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, to Gonzalo Thought and the need to prepare the conditions to unleash the People's War in the country, the conscientious element of the class, the people and the poor peasantry organized around the Front for the Defense of Struggles of the People of Ecuador, the Popular Peasant Committee – Centre and the Popular Committee North, subjects to the Campaign called "COMRADE PIERRE", called for a boycott of the consultation, and on that line some important actions were taken.
A transparent, blockade of a streets, leaflets, posters, among others, were the actions that were developed under a single slogan: BOYCOTT THE POLL.
It is also necessary to salute the three actions of spreading leaflets in the city of Quito by the Red Guards, who from the Commune, called not to participate in the referendum because they consider it alien to the interests of the masses and that nothing contributes to the true democratic exercise of the people, without avoiding the harsh criticism and fight against the revisionism that has supported this process in order to strengthen the bureaucratic path that is precisely that of elections, consultations, assembly, etc.
The important thing about these actions is that they should not be seen as specific, conjuncture events, but as an exercise in response to the old state and the construction of the three instruments for the New Democratic revolution under the heat of the class struggle, and in it, the unfolding of revolutionary violence.
