One week ago, our dear comrade Luis was killed in an ambush prepared by the reaction. Comrades from Mexico have now published pictures from the commorative festivity in his honor, that we will mirror here alongside an article from US comrades:
On April 11 at around 7 p.m., comrade Luis Armando Fuentes Aquino was assassinated in San Francisco Ixhuatán, in Oaxaca, Mexico. He was killed in a paramilitary ambush while he was on his way to his hometown of Cerro Grande.
A shining example of how one serves the people, comrade Luis Armando, affectionately known as “Comandante Gato”, led struggles of fisherman to fight against abuses, participated in the formation of the People’s Self-defenses of indigenous people in the Istmo de Tehuantepec region, and much more.
The day prior to his assassination, comrade Luis Armando was participating in the second phase of the People’s Current – Red Sun’s (In Spanish, Corriente del Pueblo – Sol Rojo) Journey for Justice and People’s Rights.
The masses of Mexico, and especially in the Southern states such as Guerrero and Oaxaca, are no strangers to state repression.
In 2006, teachers on strike in Oaxaca were subjected to immense repression and the masses clashed with the states lackeys. Nearly five years ago in Guerrero, 43 progressive students from the Ayotzinapa Rural Teachers’ College were disappeared by state forces. Since May 2018, comrade Dr. Ernesto Sernas Garcia, a leftist lawyer an defender of the people, has been missing.
Incendiary commemorate Luis Armando Fuentes Aquino as a martyr for the people, and sends a Red Salute to our Mexican comrades in the People’s Current – Red Sun.
