We publish an inofficial preliminary translation of an article by comrades of Mexico:
A year ago, on April 11, 2019, Luis Armando Fuentes Aquino was assassinated in the midst of a paramilitary ambush in the municipality of San Francisco Ixhuatán, Oaxaca. His death responds to the interests of the great international companies of European and Canadian imperialism, which specifically in the Northern Zone of Istmo are imposing the wind megaproject and now also mining. Precisely in Cerro Grande, San Francisco Ixhuatán, there is a mining concession for up to 50 years that intends to prevail in that community, from which Luis Armando was originally from. "Comandante Gato" - as the indigenous and fishing communities affectionately called him - was a member of the Committee for the Defense of the Land of the Eastern Zone of Istmo and leader of the Corriente del Pueblo Sol Rojo. The comrade had led important struggles in defense of land and territory, from Unitary Forums with other democratic organizations, to the installation of Community Camps in lands that claim to be affected by transnational companies. Other actions such as taking of federal and state government offices, road blockades, mass mobilizations and strikes against the high rates of electric energy, were carried out with particular dedication by the comrade; one day before his murder Luis Armando was in charge of a protest of more than two thousand poor peasants and fishermen on the occasion of the Centennial of the murder of General Emiliano Zapata, where the presentation of Doctor Ernesto Sernas García alive was also demanded. A year of rage! #JusticiaParaLuisArmando
