Mexico: Revolutionaries Commemorate Chairman Mao’s 128th Birthday and Anniversary of CP-Sol Rojo
On December 26, activists and revolutionaries from various parts of southern Mexico commemorated Chairman Mao Zedong’s 128th birthday and celebrated the fifth anniversary of Current of the People-Red Sun’s (CP-Sol Rojo, Corriente del Pueblo Sol Rojo) public existence as well as its 14 years of political work in rural communities.
CP-Sol Rojo’s event was one of the many celebrations held by revolutionaries internationally in honor of Chairman Mao. At the event, organizers spoke of their struggles against imperialist aggression, the bankruptcy of revisionism, and the international struggle to make Maoism the command and guide of the World Proletarian Revolution. The organizers emphasized that Maoism is the third and superior stage of Marxism, Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, mainly Maoism.
The first part of the event was dedicated to celebrating the birth of Chairman Mao, who raised Marxism to its third and highest stage by advancing the three component parts of the ideology and by raising the red flag of the uninterrupted New Democratic Revolution towards socialism.
The second half of the event commemorated the public work that CP-Sol Rojo has conducted as a democratic-revolutionary organization and the organization’s work in rural communities in southern Mexico among the deepest and broadest masses.
The organizers explained CP-Sol Rojo’s struggle to end the exploitation of the working class and peasants in Mexico. The event also honored the lives of fallen CP-Sol Rojo members. The event featured photographs of each member who gave their lives for the revolution, including Dr. Ernesto Sernas García, Javier López Martínez, Jorge Alberto Hernández, Luis Armando Fuentes Aquino, Jorge Alberto Cruz Torrez, Yolanda Cabrera, and Saul Morales Hernández.
The organizers raised the slogan, “Comrades fallen in combat, will be avenged in combat! The missing and murdered comrades live in the heart of the people! The comrades that died in the struggle, present!”
Members of the Cultural and Science Studies Center for the Proletarian Revolution (CSSCPR, Centro Cultural y de Estudios de la Ciencia para la Revolución Proletaria) participated in the event where they promoted their recent publication of two texts by Chairman Gonzalo, the leader of the Peruvian revolution and the World Proletarian Revolution. The members of the CSSCPR published the texts as part of the international campaign to defend Chairman Gonzalo’s leadership and his all-powerful thought.
Those in attendance received a historical overview of CP-Sol Rojo’s work and the texts published by the CSSCPR.
Leading comrades from the various southern and central regions of Mexico gave speeches on the need for combativeness to overthrow the exploitation the people of Mexico face to serve the World Proletarian Revolution.
The Popular Student Movement and the People’s Youth Brigades opened the event by singing the Internationale. Members of the twoorganizations then read the poem, A Lenin, by Salvadorian poet and revolutionary Roque Dalton, and a poem by Uruguayan poet Mario Benedetti, Imprisoned Man Looks at his Son.
Discussion on the two texts by Chairman Gonzalo was discussed at the event. During the discussion, attendees emphasized the need to continue studying the contributions of the universal validity of Chairman Gonzalo to popularize his Thought among the people of Mexico and turn his revolutionary theory into revolutionary action.
The event concluded with camaraderie among attendees and toasts that touched on the importance of continuing to struggle and strengthening CP-Sol Rojo’s work.
Comrade Yolanda Ruiz Cruz closed the event by stating: “in view of the continued policies of the federal government, pro-imperialist and at the service of the big bourgeoisie, it is necessary to reinforce our work … the decree of the false messiah [Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador] that militarizes the country to guarantee its megaprojects is going to run into a wall of steel, as confirmed by the unitary effort of the National Forum of Resistance of which we are part and the resistance against the Interoceanic Corridor in which we actively participate from our grassroots communities.” Comrade Cruz called on attendees to support CP-Sol Rojo’s General Assembly, which will define the tactics against bourgeois elections and the actions CP-Sol Rojo will take in 2022, on January 15.
