Hereby we publish a translation of an article by mexican comrades about an imoprtant struggle in Xoxocotlan.
On 7 October 2021, more than 20 proletarian families were forcibly evicted from their homes in the centre of Santa Cruz Xoxocotlan. A criminal group linked to the so-called "expropriation cartel", composed of landowners, criminals and a network of officials (including some notaries), carried out this action in which houses were burned, belongings stolen and several people injured. After an extensive internal rehabilitation process, the expropriated families got their land back. On 24 September, they returned to their homes accompanied by the Coordinadora en Defensa de la Vivienda Popular (Coordinating Committee for the Defence of the People's Houses) and the Corriente del Pueblo Sol Rojo (People's Current Red Sun). As expected, the "cartel of dispossession" attacked the families again. Last night and early this morning, caravans of death consisting of pick-up trucks and motorbikes attacked the families, firing weapons in collusion with the municipal and state authorities who were conspicuous by their absence. Despite this, the families, now aware that they are trying to defend their homes, continue their resistance in the countryside. The only way to stop the aggression is to mobilise the people.
