On April 01, residents of the neighborhood Alto Moura, in Caruaru, in the countryside of Pernambuco protestet against the lack of water due the ongoing pandemic.

The masses took to the street and errrected a barricade made of tiers on the Highway BR-232 , connecting Caruaru and São Caetano, and set them to fire. Threw this action they were able to block the street for four hours. The lack of water is a well-known problem int the area. The residents already fought for a functioning water supply in 2019, but little has been done till yet. In 2019 they were 26 days without water. In spite of the lack of supply, the utility company still consistently bills the full costs.
