Red Herald informed that former Delhi University professor G N Saibaba, who had been sentenced to life imprisonment over his alleged Maoist links, was released from Nagpur Central Jail on Thursday morning, two days after his acquittal by the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court.

Following the death of five People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) fighters in Chatra district in early April in an encounter with reactionary Indian forces, the Communist Party of India (Maoist) called for an armed strike on 14 and 15 April. The call was made in the states of Bijapur and Jharkhand and reportedly the turnout was extremely high, especially in the districts of Hariharganj, Pipra, Naudiha, Pandu and Hyder Nagar. Even local shopkeepers stopped work on both days and kept their shops closed, as can be seen in the picture above. The region was largely at a standstill on both days.

The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) stated that inflation in Turkey continued to skyrocket last month of March. According to official data, inflation increased by 2.95 per cent compared to the previous month. The ITO published the results of the so-called Istanbul Wage and Living Index, which measures price increases in the retail sector. According to the said index, the increase in inflation compared to March 2022 is a whopping 73.02 per cent. The wholesale price index, which reflects price trends in the wholesale sector, rose by another 4.96 per cent last month. Over the past 12 months, the wholesale price index has increased by 74.22 per cent.

In occupied Palestine, one bloody crime against the Palestinian people follows another. As reported in previous articles, the Israeli colonial state is currently intensifying and increasing immensely the violence against the national liberation movement and the Palestinian people. Recently, there have been ruthless attacks by settlers in four cities.

The genocidal operations of the reactionary Indian state against the Communist Party of India (Maoists) and its People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) continue. The operations are concentrated in the areas controlled by the CPI (Maoists), the so-called Red Corridor.

 

In Istanbul and Dersim, Partizan comrades commemorated several comrades who gave their lives in the struggle for the revolution in Turkey as part of the Week of Commemoration of the Martyrs of the Party and the Revolution. In Istanbul, the graves of Ahmet Muharrem Çiçek, Mehmet Zeki Şerit and Cemil Oka, who were cadres of the party, were visited at Istanbul Topkapı Cemetery. At the grave of Ahmet Muharrem Çiçek, a speech was made on behalf of Partizan. The speech said:

Last weekend actions initiated by a strike of taxi and truck drivers came to a head in massive country-wide protests in Jordan following increasing costs for fuel. Large numbers of protesters blocked roads with burning tires and combatively confronted the police.
