On February 8th, the Alliance Against Imperialist Aggression held a rally to denounce the massacre of several poor peasants in the Brazilian state of Rondina and the threats to the people's resistance against the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT) in the municipality of Rincón Tagolaba (Rinconcito) in Tehuantepec, Oaxaca (Mexico). The Alliance Against Imperialist Aggression had called for the rally after the threats to the people's resistance against the imperialist mega-project in Mexico became known. Shortly after, the massacre of the poor peasants in Brazil also became known, so the Alliance Against Imperialist Aggression updated its call and immediately denounced these cruel murders by the Brazilian state and its police.

Leaflets were distributed at the rally informing about the situations in Mexico and Brazil, and many listened to the denunciations made through loudspeakers. In addition to the massacre in Brazil and the threat to popular resistance in Mexico, the court case against Zapotec comrade Salvador Pinal Meléndez, who is fighting against the imposition of the CIIT and for the defense of the land, was also denounced. His court hearing fell on the exact same day as the rally. Some slogans of the revolutionary peasant movement of Brazil and the League of Poor Peasants (LCP), as well as the Mexican organization of the people Sol Rojo were loudly intoned to express the solidarity to the struggles and the heroic resistance of the people. Due to the situation after the earthquakes in Turkey, a statement of the revolutionary Turkish organization Partizan was also distributed as a leaflet in Turkish, and a German translation was read, denouncing the responsibility of imperialism and the reactionary Turkish government for the current situation of the people in the earthquake region.

This amount of anti-imperialist struggles that have opened up in a relatively short period of time shows that imperialism is a dying system that cannot even satisfy the basic needs of the masses and that is why the struggle of the peoples of the world is being ignited.

The anti-imperialist struggle must be carried out also in the imperialist countries, every massacre, every threat against the peoples of the world by the imperialists and their lackeys must be denounced and fought. That is why the Alliance Against Imperialist Aggression has also announced that it will continue to mobilize revolutionary, anti-imperialist and democratic forces and hold actions if the situation in Mexico or Brazil continues to sharpen and the reaction continues to pursue its sinister, murderous plans against the struggling people.

The importance of proletarian interantionalism is well shown by the Mexican comrades of Sol Rojo, who wrote on their website in the run-up to the announced action:

"The mobilization in Hamburg in solidarity with the poor peasants in Mexico and Brazil reflects a high internationalist and proletarian spirit that we recognize and salute."

The Alliance Against Imperialist Aggression returns this salute and it is a high praise to receive this recognition from the comrades in this way: ¡Con el Sol Rojo el pueblo vencerá!
