Activists of the TKP/ML have welcomed the foundation of the International Communist League - ICL - with an action in Istanbul. A banner was hung at Avcılar Metrobus Street with which the TKP/ML congratulates all members of the ICL and calls to take up responsibility and work.
In addition, Partizan comrades carried out activities in other cities within the framework of the week of commemoration of the martyrs of the party and the revolution. In Istanbul, the comrades organised a march to Sarıgazi Cemetery, where Mehmet Demirdağ, the fourth General Secretary of the Party, is buried. On their way to the cemetery, the comrades shouted slogans such as "The guerrilla does not die, long live the people's war" and "Our leader is İbrahim Kaypakkaya".
The Turkish police attacked the commemoration ceremony for the martyrs of the party and the revolution at the Sarıgazi cemetery and gathered riot police at the cemetery. Six Partizan comrades were arrested in the police attack under massive violence. They were attacked with pepper spray, placed on the graves and handcuffed. Despite this, the comrades pushed through their commemoration and repulsed the police attack.
The arrested comrades reported through their lawyers that they were detained at Sancaktepe police station and were to be brought before the prosecution at Kartal Anadolu Court the following day. The lawyers stated that the detainees were severely tortured, but that no medical examination report was submitted by the police.
Fallen comrades were also commemorated in Dersim, Mersin and other places in Istanbul. Among them were comrades like Hatice Dilek, Yaşar Yiğit, Perihan Çolak, Güzel Ana, Baran Gülümser, Ozan Sökmen, Erol Özel, Armenak Bakırcıyan, Nazımiye Aşağı Harik, Hasan Özdoğan, Yukarı Harik and Yusuf Tosun. In addition, numerous other family visits were organised.
