We are publishing an unofficial translation of an article by the comrades of Solrojista on recent developments in the struggle against the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT) and the upcoming visit of representatives of Yankee imperialism to Oaxaca.
The recent pretensions of a military intervention by Yankee imperialism in Mexico under the pretext of the "fight against narco" are joined by the announced visit to Oaxaca of the reactionaries John Kerry and Ken Salazar, special envoy for climate issues and US ambassador to Mexico respectively. This visit, scheduled for 21 March March (on the occasion of Benito Juárez's birthday), is to "monitor" progress in the enforcement of the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT), where the "recent achievements of AMLO and the 4T" are the militarisation of the region, the state of siege, imposed on the peasants and ejidatarios of the Ajyuuk, the criminalisation and arrest warrants against the members of the Binniza community of Puente Madera, and the persecution, terror and threats against the members of the Binniza community of Santa Cruz Tagolaba in Tehuantepec. The alliance between the Ministry of the Navy, the National Guard, the State Investigation Agency, the State Police and paramilitary groups such as the mercenary group "Tacho Canasta" is trying to break the iron will of the poor and indigenous peasants, who have organised themselves in the Union of Indigenous Communities of the Northern Zone of the Isthmus (UCIZONI), the Assembly of Indigenous Peoples of the Isthmus in Defence of Land and Territory (APIIDTT) and the Popular Current of the Red Sun (CP-Sol Rojo). In solidarity with this resistance struggle against the imposition of the CIIT and in rejection of the visit (interference) of Yankee imperialism to the Isthmus, various democratic organisations and collectives are calling for a celebration for life and in solidarity with the peoples of the Isthmus; the date is 21 March 2023 at the Gringo Embassy in Mexico City. Territorial actions are also expected from the affected communities that reject the CIIT and the declarations of the new military intervention in our country.
