The propaganda offensive around the rearmament of the German armed forces, launched by the German imperialists after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, is accompanied by the discussion on the reintroduction of compulsory military service. Now that the Bundeswehr is already being provided with 100 billion euros in special funds by the German warmongering government under Mafioso Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD), the personnel question is also to be settled in a simple way.

The German imperialists know exactly how to use this war for their own benefit, even if they did not wish for a war in Ukraine at this moment. In a cynical and mendacious way, they are now using this war to justify the massive armament of their own army. They speak of a "change of times" that Russia would have caused. And this "change of times" would make it necessary to create a strong army - so they argue.

But the debate about conscription is not entirely new either. As early as 2018, the then Defence Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer (CDU) spoke out in favour of so-called compulsory service. Such compulsory service is now being discussed again. This would not only be completed in the Bundeswehr, but also in social services, aid organisations, THW or the fire brigade.

Incidentally, compulsory military service in the FRG has not been abolished at all, it has only been suspended and limited to cases of tension or defence in 2011. So conscription would only have to be reactivated and no big parliamentary procedure would be necessary as in the case of passing a new law. So it would be easy for the German imperialists to sign us up for the army again and send us to war for their imperialist crimes.
