On March 21st, the Alliance Against Imperialist Aggression called for a rally in Hamburg, Germany, against the imperialist mega-project of the Interoceanic Corridor (CIIT) to be built on the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. For this megaproject, poor peasants and indigenous peoples in the southern Mexican region are being displaced, terrorized and plundered. Under the slogan "The Interoceanic Corridor plunders and kills poor peasants and indigenous peoples in Mexico!" the rally denounced the crimes being carried out against the people, especially in the communities of Rincón Tagolaba and Santa Cruz Tagolaba.

The rally was held at Sternschanze to create public opinion against the CIIT and the crimes being committed to enforce it, among other things, with leaflets. Since there is only a Honorary Consulate of the Mexican State in Hamburg, which is located in a remote part of a rich neighborhood, the Alliance Against Imperialist Aggression decided to hold the rally at this location.

At the beginning of the rally, only a few meters away, sympathizers of the Kurdish people's liberation struggle were still celebrating the Kurdish New Year's festival - Newroz. The gatherings greeted each other in solidarity and a large number of leaflets informing about the situation in Mexico were distributed among the participants of the Newroz celebration.

The rally also denounced the visit of Yankee Ambassador Ken Salazar, scheduled for the same day, to the southern Mexican region where the CIIT is to be built. Accompanied by Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (abbreviated as AMLO), the representative of Yankee imperialism wants to see for himself, in the old colonial manner, the progress of construction work on the CIIT. All this follows a discussion revived in the U.S. about military intervention in Mexico, under the pretext of the "war on drugs." This is only used to cover up the military interventions of Yankee imperialism, under the same pretext interventions in Latin American countries have been justified before - e.g. in the suppression of the People's War in Peru.
