We publish an inofficial translation of a declaration of french comrades:
Before the football world cup was held in Brazil in 2014, major mass demonstrations, particularly involving the popular youth, took place to protest against holding of such a miserable cover for the propaganda of the comprador regime, against the immense waste of resources, against the bloody anti-people's attacks of "cleansing" and against the destruction of several hundred dwellings which was required for it to take place.
The government of Dilma Roussef had already hosted the Olympic Games in 2013 in the same cities, which had already led to major protests. Against the protests and the legitimate indignation of the Brazilian popular masses, the puppet government of Brazil responded by force: a few days before the holding of the world cup, 23 activists who had participated actively in both movements were imprisoned; among them the communist leader, Igor Mendès Da Silva.
Today, as Brazilian bureaucratic capitalism goes through a major political crisis, these 23 activists have all been sentenced to prison terms ranging from 5 to 13 years in prison!
We express our solidarity with these political prisoners and their legitimate struggles against the anti-people's crimes of a puppet government at the service of imperialism and we call for the massive support of them and their cause, which is the cause of the people. and that of the international proletariat.
To rebel is not a crime, in such a situation it is a necessity, a question of survival.
SUPPORT IGOR MENDES, THE 23 POLITICAL PRISONERS AND THEIR RIGHT CAUSE!
ITS RIGHT TO REBEL!
DEATH TO IMPERIALISM!
