In the following we want to present a recent interview given by Varavara Rao to the Mumbai Mirror on the current situation of the Maoist movement in India. While also outlining some of the mistakes made in the past, like the failure to develop a powerful work among Muslim communities, he strongly condemns the propaganda campaigns, slandering the communists of every cruelty possible, and highlights some of the great victories that were won in the past 50 years of struggle since the Naxalbari uprising.
Varavara Rao is a well known advocate of the revolutionary movement. He is a founding member of Virasam, the Revolutionary Writer’s Association, and has been imprisoned for his political activities many times, most recently in autumn of last year, when he was abducted by police forces during an assault on a demonstration.

Millions of oppressed people of various nations from vast territories responded to the call “Yesterday was too early tomorrow too late, the time is today” by Lenin. The time was that day. On that day, a profound milestone in the history of mankind that cannot be wiped was remarked. Doors to the new age, “Imperialism and Revolutions” were opened. The obsolete world economic system was shaken. Thousands years of human history was turned upside down. The red flag of oppressed masses was raised in the compound of reactionaries, which was subsequently transformed into unshakeable defending walls of working class.
The October revolution enlightens the path to liberation from all forms of exploitation and tyranny. The October revolution is the manifest of emancipation from slavery and wage slavery. The October revolution implies national liberation struggle is in fact a part of proletariat revolution. The October revolution is the most advanced doctrine of revolution in the vast territory of the Soviets.
The USSR, a great experience of proletariat after Paris Commune, became and continues to be a terrifying nightmare for bourgeois. The USSR was subjected to countless aggressions yet it was protected by the blood of millions of the oppressed. The proletariat dictatorship was targeted by Hitler fascism, however it was defended by peoples of all Soviets under the leadership of Joseph Stalin and Red Army. The peoples of world smashed fascism.
Today October revolution and its teachings continue to light up the path of liberation for all peoples of the world. We shall continue to devotedly march in the shining path of October revolution to defend it against all forms of aggression.
“The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles.” The history was written by masses in this battle. To deepen our understanding of the October revolution which was achieved by masses under the leadership of Bolshevik party, we launch a campaign “Glory to October Revolution on its 100th anniversary”. We hereby declare that by organizing various activities on every corner we shall wage the struggle for new waves of proletariat revolutions.

Two officers of the Peruvian Special Operations National Police were annihilated by Maoist fighters of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), led by the Communist Party of Peru (PCP). The actions took place in Huanta, on the 8th and 9th of October.
In a communiqué entitled Communist greetings for the past dates and the red month of October, the PCP claims the action and denounces the monopoly of the press. “They are paid and guided by intelligence, so they impute the armed actions of the PCP as subversive remnants or narco-terrorists,”

Enraged by the governments attempt to destroy their livelihood hundreds of poor peasants in the province of Tumaco in western Columbia went onto the roads and fields to stop police forces from destroying their coca plantations on the 5th of October. They were met with utmost brutality by the Colombian government when its police forces and a helicopter opened fire on them without previous warning, leaving 9 dead and 18 wounded.

Since years Mali is grievously effected by the ongoing imperialist's struggle to repartition the world and for a bigger share of pie. The country is exemplary for the consequences of such a prolonged imperialist aggression: On one hand there are vast deposits of important resources like petroleum, uranium and gold in Mali. On the other hand the country is kept extremely poor; its northern part is considered one of the poorest in western Africa. Hence, there’s every right to rebel for the people.
