With great joy we spread the news on comrade Ajith, who has been set free on the 23. of July from Pune prison. It is still only a release on bail and we can expect more repression against the comrade, but for now, we share this image of him outside of prison:

As published recently, our imprisioned comrade Theo, a worker from Nantes and a Maoist activist, who has previously been arrested on charges of having made a wall painting against former minister de Rugy, is currently on hunger strike since 22 July, as report various information sources from France. He claims recognition of his status as political prisoners, his transfer to Riom prison, and the release of political prisoners, particularly that of Georges Ibrahim Abdallah.

France’s environment minister François de Rugy last week announced the resignation from his post after being caught up in what came to be known internationally and in France as the “lobster-affair”. While the yellow vest movement put France in turmoil, the masses rebelled against their miserable conditions and turned their hatred against institutions and personnel of the state and capital, de Rugy was renovating his flat and giving lavishing banquets for his buddies in industry and politics on the dime of the working people of France.

Increasing in magnitude and strength, protests against the planned project to open up a new copper mine in the region of Arequipa, Peru, intensified significantly the last days. Following earlier protests, such as the actions from the 15th of July, now clashes with the police have intensified, as protesters again occupied major traffic arteries in the area, already causing supply shortage.

According to bourgeoisie reactionary press, the situation in the region of  Arequipa continues to be tense also in the 8th day of indefinite strike. Due to protesters having blocked the most important highways and connecting streets, since Monday gas stations, for example, face the situation of running out of supply, as protesters have successfully managed to block of all roads for some days.

The protest is directed against the so-called “Tía María” mining project planned by the US-capital backed Southern Copper Corporation (SCC) some years ago and it is not for the first time, that the struggle of the people to prevent it has taken sharp forms: As the peasants and people of the region are aware, how the proposed copper-mine will harm the basis for their livelihoods through pollution, seizure of lands, etc. they do not relent, although Police already before brutally tried to subdue to protest. Against the most recent attacks by the police to disperse the just protest of the people of Arequipa protesters remain combative and organized, mounting effective resistance against them and wounding for policemen in latest confrontations.

Also in the last week, the People's Liberation Guerrilla Army under the leadership of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) has carried out new actions in the People's War.

From the comrades of Sol Rojo in Mexico we share the following (unofficial) translation of their recently published report about the Third Phase of the Journey for Justice and the Rights of the People, a prolonged campaign that has been reported about on this website several times before.

Report of the Third Phase of the Journey for Justice and the Rights of the People

To the proletariat and the working class, to the poor peasantry and the oppressed peoples, to the deepest layers of the people we want to give the following informative part.

In collusion with the Chilean government, state owned Norwegian “green energy” monopolist Statkraft, since some years, is digging up ancient graveyards of the Mapuche people, is driving them away and destroying the ecological basis for them to survive. Against this, the Mapuche have deployed various means of actions, such as occupations of land, and for this they face fierce repression. Now, Statkraft is about to the work on a new dam project in Pilmaiken river in Wallmapu – and resistance is mounting against the massive destruction and evictions to be expected.

It has not even been a month until Banu, Sinan and Sami are free yet again! All three are defendants in the so-called „TKP/ML Trial“ have had their detention orders (yet again) lifted yesterday. After this had already happened once, 2018, all three were rearrested surprisingly on June 25, 2019, whilst in court. Against this obvious terror aimed against those who stand accused by the state to be Communists and Revolutionaries a great wave of solidarity developed in the last three weeks, denouncing the trial and the court decision, that has now let to the defendants being released again.
