Finland

The Communist Party of Finland was founded on August 29th, 1918 in Moscow, Soviet Russia.

José Maria Galhasi, a great communist fighter, indelible figure of the Brazilian communist movement and a staunch internationalist, he died on August 24 in São Paulo. At the age of 96, the cause for it was a natural death, as his health had been weakened by more then 80 decades of fighting and heroic struggles in the service of the revolutionary proletariat. José Maria is one of the veteran founders of A Nova Democracia (AND), a permanent and tireless enthusiast.

Against the beginning of the destruction of a monument to the victory of the Red Army in World War II on 23.08.2022 protest formed in Riga.

On the 22nd of August, a demonstration of residents and popular movements took place in the Complexo do Alemão favela in Rio de Janeiro. Under the slogan "Stop the massacres in the favelas of Rio and Brazil", participants protested loudly and militantly in the streets. Here is a video of the demonstration:

Norway

On Monday August 22nd in Trondheim Kampkomiteen partook in a demonstration against the fascist organisation SIAN. Before the demonstration activists from Kampkomiteen had put up posters in central and eastern Trondheim, to mobilise for the demonstration. Posters were also hung up in the neighbouring municipalities of Malvik and Stjørdal.

 

43 students disappeared on 27 September 2014 city of Iguala in the state of Guerrero in Mexico in the wake of student protests. Since then, there has been no trace of them. But now something has happened in the case surrounding the disappearance of the 43. The former Attorney General of Mexico, Jesús Murillo Karam, was arrested on 20 August, claiming he was involved in the case. Karam held the highest post, of those now arrested over the case of the 43 students, but he was far from the only one. Arrest warrants were issued for 20 army officers, five local officials, 33 local police officers, 11 Guerrero state police officers and 14 members of the Guerreros Unidos drug gang. All are alleged to have had a hand in the disappearance of the 43 students.
